Component City

Component City is a real world metaphor visualisation design to aid the browsing and searching of software component repositories. Software components are described using an XML based markup, Software Component Markup Language (SCML), and clustered according the their functional properties using a self-organizing map. The clustered components are then visualised by representing them as buildingings within a cityscape. Users can walk through the city to examine the components and the relationships between them.
